Thereās a growing frustration Iāve seen in the creative AI space, and maybe youāve felt it too.
We get pulled in by exciting tools that promise to unlock new creative frontiers, only to hit paywalls, credit drains, and sneaky upgrade traps the moment we get into our groove. Itās not just annoying; it breaks the flow, it discourages artists, and frankly, it undermines trust.
Hereās the truth:
Iām not against paying for great tools. In fact, I support the ones that respect me as a creator; like Suno, that consistently delivers real value without forcing my hand. I gladly support tools that uplift creativity, not trap it.
But when a platform hides the ābuy creditsā option behind an upgrade menu, or bleeds users dry with microcharges and limitations after hyping up features they barely deliver on⦠somethingās broken.
Creators deserve better.
We shouldnāt have to game the system or dig through menus just to keep creating. We should be empowered by the tools we use, not controlled by them.
Thatās why Iāve been working on building Samaritan, my own local AI backend. Not to replace every tool, but to give myself freedom. A workflow I own. A space where my ideas donāt depend on cloud token balances or server queues.
And this is the mindset Iām carrying into everything I build:
Ethical AI; not pay-to-create, but pay-to-empower.
When people feel seen, supported, and trusted, theyāre happy to support the tools that help them shine. You donāt need tricks. You just need to respect the creator.
If you’re a fellow artist, engineer, or storyteller; I hope you find tools that empower you. And if you ever want to talk about building your own creative stack, or how to keep the soul in your AI-driven work, Iām here.
Letās keep creating, on our termsā¦
